What is hydroplaning?

Hydroplaning occurs when a vehicle's tires lose traction with the road surface as they encounter a layer of water. This situation allows the vehicle to essentially 'skim' across the surface of the water instead of making firm contact with the road, leading to a significant loss of control. When hydroplaning, the driver can no longer steer or brake effectively, which presents a serious safety hazard, especially at higher speeds.
